Sara Liberte: A Renaissance Woman in Motorcycles and Motorcycle Photography

Sara Liberte

Sara Liberte's adventure in motorcycles and motorcycle photography started with a spark of interest in three-wheelers during her childhood. This spark grew into a blazing passion for motorcycles by the time she reached college. The beginning of her motorcycle journey was marked by her first bike, a 1996 XL 1200 that began life as an 883. This bike was not just a mode of transportation; it was the start of Sara's hands-on learning journey in the mechanics of motorcycles, driven by a yearning for independence and mastery.

A Journey of Art and Mechanics

Under the guidance of Christine O’Brien in Southbridge, Massachusetts, Sara's artistic journey took flight, further blossoming at Monsterrat College of Art. It was there that she discovered her love for photography, a passion she has nurtured since 1994. Sara's talents are not confined to the realm of photography. For 14 years, she co-managed RT’s North Hills Cycle Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA, with Ron Tonetti. Their collaboration was renowned for excellence in custom motorcycle builds and standout paint jobs.

Sara's literary works, including "1000 Tattoos" and "How to Repair and Maintain American V-Twin Motorcycles," draw inspiration from the rich tattoo culture at motorcycle rallies and her personal experiences. These works aim to empower fellow motorcycle enthusiasts with knowledge and skills.

Despite the challenges of navigating a male-dominated industry, Sara has encountered minimal resistance, focusing instead on honing her craft and contributing to a community that values skill regardless of gender.
